Some trips are vacations.
Some trips are adventures.
And then there are the trips that have been living on your bucket list for years.
This is one of those trips. 🐋💙
At the end of September, we're heading somewhere exciting for a trip that I have dreamed about for many years.
I'm not going to tell you exactly where we're going or everything we have planned just yet.
You're going to have to follow along and see where this adventure takes us. 😉
But I will give you one very important clue…
We're going looking for orcas.
It Started With SeaWorld
If you've followed me for any amount of time, you probably know that SeaWorld has played a role in my love of these incredible animals.
Watching orcas up close, learning about them and seeing the connection between people and animals helped create a fascination that has stayed with me for years.
And now, that fascination is taking us somewhere completely different.
We're going from watching orcas in a controlled environment to hoping to find them in their natural habitat.
There is something incredibly special about that thought.
These animals aren't going to be waiting for us at a scheduled show.
There are no guarantees.
We're going to have to find them.
And honestly?
That is part of what makes this adventure so exciting.
A Bucket List Dream
Seeing orcas in the wild has been a dream of mine for years.
I've watched videos.
I've followed sightings.
I've read about the best places to see them.
I've imagined what it would feel like to be out on the water and suddenly see that unmistakable black-and-white dorsal fin appear.
And now we're finally going to give ourselves the chance to experience it.
Will we see them?
I certainly hope so.
But that's one of the beautiful things about wildlife travel—you don't get to control the outcome.
You get to show up.
You get to wait.
You get to watch.
And if we're lucky, we might get a moment we'll remember for the rest of our lives.
We're Doing Our Homework
Let's just say we're taking this mission seriously. 😂
We've joined a Facebook group where people are sharing recent orca sightings.
We've downloaded an app to help us track whale activity.
We're watching where the whales have been spotted and following along with the reports.
And we're leaving room in our plans to chase the sightings.
We may have an itinerary… but the whales get the final say. 🐋
That's what makes this trip so different from a typical vacation.
We're not just checking things off a list.
We're watching, learning and following the adventure as it unfolds.
And There's a Little Business Behind This Adventure Too
One of the things I love about being a travel advisor is that I get to experience destinations and travel experiences that I can then share with my clients.
And yes, I can help you plan a SeaWorld vacation, too. 💙
SeaWorld has been part of my own journey toward this love of orcas, and now I'm excited to take that passion one step further by searching for them in the wild.
It's a pretty cool reminder that sometimes a vacation can spark something much bigger.
A curiosity.
A passion.
A dream.
And eventually… a bucket-list adventure.
So Follow Along…
I'm intentionally keeping some of the details of this trip under wraps for now.
Where are we going?
What are we doing?
Will we find the orcas?
You'll have to follow along to find out. 👀
I'll be sharing the journey, the sightings, the surprises and hopefully—hopefully!—some incredible moments with these magnificent animals in the wild.
Because this isn't just another trip.
It's a dream I've been chasing for years.
And now we're finally going to see if we can find them.
🐋 From SeaWorld… to the wild.
The adventure is about to begin.
