I’m about to do something I’ve been wanting to do for a while…
I’m going on Margaritaville at Sea! 🍹🌴🚢
And honestly? I have questions.
Margaritaville at Sea has developed a reputation for being the “party boat.” You know the reputation I mean—music, drinks, dancing, pool parties, entertainment and a very laid-back, Jimmy Buffett-inspired atmosphere.
But is that really what the experience is like?
We’re going to find out.
Why We Decided to Try Margaritaville at Sea
As someone who loves cruising, I’m always interested in experiencing different cruise lines firsthand.
I don’t want to simply tell you what I’ve read online. I want to get onboard, experience it for myself and come back with the honest scoop.
Margaritaville at Sea describes its experience as a mix of island-inspired entertainment, dining, bars and lounges, live music, pools, casino action and plenty of opportunities to either join the fun or relax.
And that's exactly what I want to explore.
Is it a cruise where you can kick back with a margarita and listen to live music all afternoon?
Absolutely.
But can you also find quieter spaces, enjoy a nice meal, relax by the pool or simply take in the ocean?
That’s what I’m hoping to discover.
And Yes… We’re Staying in a Suite!
One thing I’m especially excited about is our accommodations.
We’re staying in a suite, which means I’ll be paying very close attention to the onboard suite experience.
What does the extra space actually feel like?
Are the suite amenities worth it?
How is the service?
Does the suite experience feel meaningfully different from a standard stateroom?
And most importantly…
Would I recommend upgrading to a suite?
Margaritaville at Sea offers several suite categories, with amenities varying by ship and suite type. On Islander, for example, Grand Terrace Suites include a private balcony, priority check-in and boarding, concierge services, priority debarkation and other suite-specific perks.
I’m excited to experience those perks rather than just read about them.
So… Is It Really a Party Boat?
That’s probably the question I’m going to get the most.
And I don't want to answer it before I actually experience it.
Margaritaville at Sea definitely embraces the fun side of cruising. There are sail-away parties, live music, DJs, game shows, bars, pools and plenty of entertainment.
But the cruise line also offers kids' activities, dining, spa and fitness options, quieter spaces and plenty of ways to simply relax.
So I'm going in with an open mind.
Maybe the reputation is completely accurate.
Maybe it’s exaggerated.
Or maybe the truth is somewhere in between.
I'm going to find out.
